I am writing to inform you of the new homework policy within the mathematics department which will be in effect from next Monday ( 21st May 2018) onwards. Students are now required to complete 3 tasks (as a minimum) a week on hegarty maths. The tasks must be completed on hegarty maths after watching the relevant video whilst making notes in the 'Hegarty Maths Homework Book.' Students should write the title, key words and copy the examples (approximately 3 per video) into their books before attempting the task. When completing the tasks students should ensure that they are showing their working in their books. For any further information on using Hegarty Maths please refer to the student guide attached. The deadline for the homework requires the tasks to be completed, signed by the parent/carer and the notes to be shown to the teacher. The teacher will sign satisfactory completion of the task. Failure to achieve at least 80% on the homework tasks or have a time /effort of at least 15 minutes on each of the three tasks; will result in an hour detention on the following Thursday. Hegartymaths is a very helpful tool for students to improve their maths generally and in preparation for their GCSE's. If your child requires further assistance to complete the homework tasks, a weekly Hegartymaths Help Session will be run every Tuesday in A21 from 3:20 - 4:20.
I hope you will support us by encouraging your child to complete homework regularly.
