Today was another action-packed day, combining history, culture, and a little friendly competition.
The students spent the morning taking part in the Battle of the Bistros challenge in Bayeux. Working in teams, they completed a variety of food and drink-themed activities around the town, earning points for their bistros while exploring the local area. They also had the opportunity to visit the bustling market along Rue St Jean and admire the stunning Bayeux Cathedral.
We then continued our journey through Normandy, travelling along the historic landing beaches, including Omaha Beach, where students were able to reflect on the events they have been learning about throughout the trip. After enjoying packed lunches, we visited the American Cemetery, an incredibly moving site that gave students a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made during the Second World War.
The afternoon included a visit to Arromanches, where students experienced the impressive Arromanches 360 Cinema and learned more about the D-Day landings and the remarkable engineering achievements that supported them. This was followed by a visit to the D-Day Museum, which helped bring the history of the Normandy campaign to life through its fascinating exhibits.
After a full day of exploration and learning, we returned to the Château for dinner and evening entertainment, a disco, where everyone could dance and enjoy time with friends after another memorable day.
