Sparx Maths is our online maths homework platform for all students in Key Stage 3. Students are expected to achieve 100% on their compulsory homework each week. If a student fails to get a question right they are expected to have at least watched the video and attempted it twice so that the “Seek Help” function appears; failure to do so will result in a 45 minute detention.

Sparx Maths has a very clever algorithm that assesses students’ level throughout so if they are finding it difficult it will provide extra support/decrease in difficulty. Similarly, if a student is finding their homework too easy it will provide less support/increase in difficulty. Therefore, it is imperative that the student is the one completing their homework.

Another important thing to remember is that students need to always write down the bookwork code before attempting a question. Sparx utilises “bookwork checks” to ensure students are writing down their workings – if a bookwork check is failed the student is required to redo that question. For further information on signing into Sparx please refer to the videos attached.

I hope you will support us by encouraging your child to complete their homework regularly.

Method Maths (Year 11)

Starting immediately, we will be transitioning to a new math homework platform called Method Maths. This decision has been made after careful consideration and feedback from both teachers and students, and we are confident that this change will have a positive impact on your child's outcomes.

Here are some key benefits of Method Maths:

  1. User-Friendly Interface: The new platform is designed to be more intuitive and user-friendly, making it easier for students to navigate and complete their math assignments independently.
  2. Exam Practice: Method Maths contains a collection of past paper exam questions so our year 11 students will gain vital exam practice outside the classroom.
  3. Instant Feedback: Students will receive immediate feedback on their homework submissions, helping them identify areas where they may need additional practice and reinforcement.
  4. Spot Gaps: Each question is colour coded based on their score for that question so this will easily allow both the student and teacher identify gaps in knowledge.
  5. Technical Support: Our school will provide technical support and guidance to ensure a smooth transition and address any questions or concerns you may have.

We appreciate your support in this transition and look forward to partnering with you to provide the best possible math education for your child. If you have any immediate questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
