The Careers Programme

North Oxfordshire Academy is committed to delivering a robust Careers and HE Guidance programme to all students in years 7-11.

The careers programme enables our young people to explore various career routes as soon as they start their journey at the Academy. The aim of the programme is to provide our students with an understanding of the world of work and support them in making decisions about their future.

All careers’ activities are developed in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance:

  1. A stable careers’ programme.
  2. Learning from career and labour market information.
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil.
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers.
  5. Encounters with employers and employees.
  6. Experiences of workplaces.
  7. Encounters with further and higher education.
  8. Personal guidance.

The impact of the careers programme is regularly assessed by post-activity feedback as well as end-of-year surveys or focus groups. The careers team value student feedback and strive to implement student suggestions in planning of future activities. The impact of our careers programme is further measured through the destination data for both post-16 and post-18 destinations.
