Expectations - Behaviour

The Academy Behaviour Policy is known as Behaviour for Learning (B4L).

We are committed to establishing high standards of learning, teaching and behaviour. We aim to create an environment that is conducive to good discipline rather than reacting to particular situations. Poor behaviour cannot be tolerated as it is a denial of the right of students to learn and teachers to teach.

To enable learning to take place high expectations, good classroom management, and the development of positive relationships are  the most effective, but where this falls short, the academy will have clear, firm and intelligent strategies in place to help students manage their behaviour.

We believe we have the potential to raise standards if we are consistent in implementing good practice in learning, teaching and behaviour management.

Respect has to be given in order to be received. Parents and carers, students and teachers all need to operate in a culture of mutual regard.

The support of parents is essential for the maintenance of good behaviour. Parents and the academy need to have a clear understanding of their rights and responsibilities.

Implementing an Academy behaviour system is the first fundamental for an academy in which all students can achieve their full potential:

·                B4L provides the platform for improving teaching and learning.

·                B4L provides clear and direct evidence to students and parents that the academy is improving and cares about individuals.

·                B4L releases teachers’ energy to concentrate on their core purpose – Teaching and Learning.

·                B4L creates an academy team feeling and a “we can do this” attitude.

·                B4L provides immediate support to all new teachers.

·                B4L is the basis for the academy evolving into a learning community.
