Sparx Maths (Years 7, 8 and 9)

Sparx Maths is our online maths homework platform for all students in Key Stage 3.

Students are expected to achieve 100% on their compulsory homework each week. If a student fails to get a question right they are expected to have at least watched the video and attempted it twice so that the “Seek Help” function appears; failure to do so will result in a 45 minute detention. Sparx Maths has a very clever algorithm that assesses students’ level throughout so if they are finding it difficult it will provide extra support/decrease in difficulty. Similarly, if a student is finding their homework too easy it will provide less support/increase in difficulty. Therefore, it is imperative that the student is the one completing their homework. Another important thing to remember is that students need to always write down the bookwork code before attempting a question. Sparx utilises “bookwork checks” to ensure students are writing down their workings – if a bookwork check is failed the student is required to redo that question. For further information on signing into Sparx please refer to the videos attached.

I hope you will support us by encouraging your child to complete their homework regularly.

  • Year 7 – Friday
  • Year 8 – Tuesday

Hegarty Maths (Year 10 and 11)

HegartyMaths is our online maths homework platform for all students in Key Stage 4.

Students are required to complete 3 tasks (as a minimum) per week on HegartyMaths. The tasks must be completed after watching the relevant video whilst making notes in their 'HegartyMaths Homework Book.' Students should write the title, key words and copy the examples (approximately 3 per video) into their books before attempting the task. When completing the tasks students should ensure that they are showing their working in their books. For any further information on using HegartyMaths please refer to the student guide attached. Students are expected to achieve at least 80% or have spent at least 30 minutes on each of the three tasks; failure to do so will result in a 45 minute detention. HegartyMaths is a very helpful tool for students to improve their maths generally and in preparation for their GCSE's.

I hope you will support us by encouraging your child to complete their homework regularly.
