Possibly the most important factor in encouraging good behaviour is constant and consistent positive recognition;
it improves students’ self esteem and creates a positive school environment.
Rewards are integral to motivating our students, in order that they achieve their full potential. At NOA we use them to raise aspiration, recognise excellence and effort, praise performance, motivate, highlight and to encourage.
In all Key Stages rewards are staged to focus on reinforcing positive behaviours. Such behaviours include making excellent progress, being an independent learner, demonstrating positive behaviour, and being a successful learner. They are given at a variety of levels from subject, and tutor group awards given in class in-front of classmates, to presentations made at assemblies, and whole school awards ceremonies.
The recipient of rewards will have their achievements celebrated in a variety of ways, including positive phone calls, postcards or letters to home, presentations in front of peers, staff and visitors, announcements in assemblies, publication in the termly newsletter, on the school website, on the plasma screen and on various notice boards and presentation areas throughout the school.
